Alexandra Cabral

 

 

Alexandra Cabral is Portuguese and lives in Lisbon.

 

Her studies have been carried out at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon / Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade de Lisboa (FA-UL).

 

Holding a Licentiate degree in Architecture of Fashion Design and a MA in Fashion Design on “Fashion and Contemporary Work of Art Approaches, Practices and Cross-Contaminations in the Work of Joana Vasconcelos", she develops her PhD research project as a collaborator investigator at CIAUD – Research Center, under the tutorship of Professor Manuela Cristina Figueiredo.

 

Alexandra is a Guest Lecturer at the same Faculty, and she was previous a Guest Lecturer at ESART – Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas do Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco, Fashion Design Lecturer at Raffles Design Institute Shanghai (China) and Teacher at Modatex (Lisboa) and ETIC – Escola de Tecnologias de Inovação e Criação (Lisboa).

 

She presents and publishes papers at scientific meetings and in scientific journals, having also written fashion chronicles for a national newspaper (Jornal i) in 2013.

 

She is also a mentor from Nau, a branding agency for fashion business in São Paulo. Her varied experience in fashion design since 2001 is in design project, styling, design management, creative direction and costume design and she is also interested in fashion while creative industry and in its transdisciplinary facet.

 

Awarded the 1st Prize of Young Creators (national contest) in the fashion category, in 2003, her pieces became part of the Casoria Contemporary Art Museum collection (Naples, Italy) in 2006.

 

Alexandra takes part in artistic projects and international contemporary art exhibitions, merging fashion with fine arts.

 

She has participated in short films while a creative team member and it’s also of her interest music. For having studied piano, music theory, choir and singing, live performances in music were also part of her curriculum.
